Biocompatible nanoparticles tailored as targeted drug delivery systems and theranostics for treatment of stroke

The proposal of the multidisciplinary project is based on technologies and methods developed by individual teams in previous projects. A consortium of teams from three institutions was formed to prepare the project.

FNUSA-ICRC is the project applicant and the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the ASCR and the Faculty of Pharmacy of Masaryk University are co-applicants.

The project will test the thrombolytic effect of recombinant plasminogen and alteplase. These thrombolytics will be tested both in free form and bound to nanoliposomes surface-modified with functionalized HPMA-based polymers. The aim of the project is to prepare and test targeted thrombolytics for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke in a preclinical animal model (rat). The result of the project will be publications in the impacted journals of the first quartile, as well as prototypes and functional samples. If the results of the project are suitable for the legal protection of intellectual property, then patent applications will be filled.
